Baseball to Host Gannon on Thursday to Begin PSAC Western Division Series

Johnstown, PA

The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will play host to Gannon University for a PSAC Western Division doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Point Stadium.  Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.  These games were originally scheduled for Friday, but due to the forecast of rain, the doubleheader was moved up one day.

Head Coach Todd Williams, already Pitt-Johnstown's "winningest" baseball coach, comes into the series against Gannon needing two victories to reach 500 for his career.  Pitt-Johnstown swept a pair of games from Slippery Rock on Saturday.  Owen McKeever's walk-off, two-run single lifted the Mountain Cats to a 4-3 victory in game one.  Pitt-Johnstown, currently fifth in the PSAC West, completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory in the nightcap.

Gannon, under fifth-year Head Coach Greg Coleman, is 22-10 overall and tied with Mercyhurst for the lead in the PSAC Western Division at 12-4.  The Golden Knights took 3-out-of-4 games from Indiana (PA) last weekend.  Gannon opened the series with 10-6 and 5-4 wins in Erie, before taking game three in Indiana, 13-4.  IUP won the finale, 9-7.

Last season, Pitt-Johnstown and Gannon split the four-game PSAC series.  The Mountain Cats took the first two games 7-3 and 2-1 in Erie on April 13, before the Golden Knights answered with 11-6 and 15-3 victories at Point Stadium on April 14.

SCHEDULE NOTE:  PITT-JOHNSTOWN WILL CONCLUDE THE PSAC SERIES WITH SLIPPERY ROCK ON APRIL 30 IN SLIPPERY ROCK.

Pitt-Johnstown will conclude the four-game PSAC series against the Golden Knights in Erie on Saturday, before traveling to Seton Hill for a conference doubleheader next Friday.
