The Pitt-Johnstown baseball team will open a key four-game home-and-home PSAC Western Division series against Gannon with a doubleheader, Friday afternoon at Sargent's Stadium at the Point. Games are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.

Both Pitt-Johnstown and Gannon are among six teams with similar records in the PSAC Western Division battling for spots in May's 2021 PSAC Baseball Tournament. The top-four teams in each of the Eastern and Western Division advance to the conference baseball tournament.

Dylan Heid led the Mountain Cats to a 4-0 win in Friday's opener at Sargent's Stadium at the Point. Pitt-Johnstown took game two, 5-2, but suffered 2-1 and 9-6 losses in Slippery rock on Saturday.

Gannon under sixth-year
Coach Greg Coleman, improved to 14-12 overall and 12-8 in the PSAC West with a four-game sweep over Indiana (PA) last weekend. The Golden Knights swept the Crimson Hawks 1-0 and 7-2 in Indiana on Friday, before completing the sweep with 3-2 and 5-4 win in Erie on Saturday.

Pitt-Johnstown and Gannon have met 24 times since the 2014 season, and the Golden Knights hold a slim, 13-11, advantage. In 2019, Gannon took 3-of-4 from the Mountain Cats. On April 18 in Johnstown, Gannon earned a 9-2 victory in the opener, before Pitt-Johnstown got the split with a 3-2 win. Two days later in Erie, the Golden Knights dealt the Mountain Cats 6-5 and 4-0 losses.

Pitt-Johnstown travels to Bloomsburg for a non-conference game on Tuesday, before hosting a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against nationally-ranked Seton Hill on Friday at 1 p.m. at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.
