Mitch Jeffe and
Sal Cerilli finished in a 12-way tie for 21st place in a field of 115 golfers to lead the Mountain Cats at Sunday and Monday's 2022 LeMoyne (NY) College NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Preview Tournament at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, NY. Pitt-Johnstown finished in a tie for 14-place with Dominican (NY) College in the 23-team field.
Davis & Elkins (WV) College's Jordan Hyland shot 1-under to hold off West Liberty (WV) University's Alex Easthom by one shot to win medalist honors and lead the Senators to the team championship at +19, 16 strokes better than the University of Charleston (WV) and California (PA), who tied for second at +35.
Jeffe and Cerilli each finished at +9 to tie for 21st-place. After opening the tournament with a 75 on Sunday, Jeffe shot 78 on Monday, while Cerilli shot 76 and 77 to pace the Mountain Cats.Â
Justin Scally tied for 65-place at +14 (77, 81), While
Mario Battaglia tied for 87th at +18 (81, 81), and
Brendan Villnave ended the tournament at +29 (93, 80) to finish in 113th-place.
Davis & Elkins claimed the title at +19 (595), and Charleston and California (PA) tied for second at +35 (611). West Chester University and Gannon University tied for fourth at +36 (612), to round out the top-five. Pitt-Johnstown tied for 14th-place with Domninican at +49 (625).
The Mountain Cats travel to the Indiana (PA) Cecil Spadafora Invitational at Indiana Country Club on April 18-19, before waiting to see if the program earns its first ever berth in the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Tournament beginning on May 5 at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, NY.
