Mauricio Hernandez Esparza shot 10-over par (226) playing as an individual to tie for 8th place to lead Pitt-Johnstown in the two-day West Liberty Invitational at Steubenville Country Club in Steubenville, Ohio on Monday and Tuesday.
As a team, the Mountain Cats finished sixth in the 12-team field after shooting 70-over-par (934).
Mitch Jeffe fired a 231 (+15) to tie for 18th place to pace the team scoring. Sal Cerilli tied for 26th place with a 234 (+18). Justin Scally followed right behind with a 235 (+19) to tie himself for 28th place. Mario Battaglia shot a 238 (+22) and tied for 39th place. Parker Hilchey tied for 49th place with a 241 (+25).
Tyler Mocello, playing as an individual, shot a 238 (+22) to tie for 39th, and Ethan Webb tied for 56th (+30).
Jordan Hyland of Davis & Elkins College won the tournament by shooting one-over-par (217), three strokes better than Cole Darbyshire, who shot three-over par (220) playing as an individual for Charleston.
The Senators also took first place as a team by finishing 22-over par (886), 22 strokes better than West Liberty, which finished second with a 44-over par (908).
Pitt-Johnstown will compete in the Clarion Hal Hansen Invitational at Grove City Country Club in Grove City on Sunday and Monday.
