Unbeaten and No. 7-Ranked Wrestlers Set to Host PSAC Match Against #14 Gannon on Wednesday

The seventh-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers, 9-0 overall and ranked seventh in the country, will host 14th-Gannon for a PSAC match, Wednesday evening in the Sports Center.
 
Head Coach Pat Pecora (47th season) and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats, ranked seventh in the most recent NWCA Preseason National Poll, are 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC following Friday's impressive 35-5 conference victory at No. 8 Millersville.  No. 1-ranked Jacob Ealy won by fall at 149 lbs. over No. 8 Craig Cook, and 11th-ranked Dillon Keane (165 lbs.) knocked off sixth-ranked Brandon Connor to help the Mountain Cats win the final eight bouts.
 
The Mountain Cats are led by three-time All-American and eighth-ranked Brock Biddle at 184 lbs., two-time All-American and No. 1-ranked Jacob Ealy at 149 lbs., and 2022 All-American and ninth-ranked Nate Smith at 157 lbs.  In addition, 2022 NCAA National Qualifiers Caleb Morris (141 lbs.), and Dillon Keane (165 lbs.), ranked 11th nationally, are back in the line-up, as well as fifth-ranked Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.).
 
Head Coach Don Henry's (37th season) 14th-ranked Gannon Golden Knights come into the match at 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC after Friday's 24-13 home victory over 18th-ranked Mercyhurst.  Gannon also went 3-3 at the Division II National Duals on Jan. 7, including wins over nationally-ranked McKendree and Fort Hays State.
 
The Golden Knights are led by is led by a pair of nationally-ranked wrestlers, including 2021 All-American and No. 2-ranked Nick Young at 149 lbs. and 2020 All-American and No. 8 Dom Means at 157 lbs.  In addition, 2021 national runner-up Alex Farenchak (165 lbs.), All-American Joel Leise (197 lbs.) and 2022 National Qualifier Joey Petrilla (174 lbs.) are featured in the Gannon lineup.
 
Since 2005, Pitt-Johnstown holds a 14-2 advantage in the series between the two programs, including an 18-12 win over the Golden Knights last season on Feb. 11 in Erie.

Pitt-Johnstown will host a non-conference match against 16th-ranked Glenville State (WV) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to a PSAC match at Seton Hill on Jan. 28.
