Wrestlers Set for 2023 NCAA Super Region I Tournament at East Stroudsburg

Head Coach Pat Pecora's Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers, ranked second in the Open Mat Dual Meet and seventh in the tournament rankings, will travel to East Stroudsburg University's Koehler Fieldhouse for the 2023 NCAA Division II Super Region I Tournament on Saturday in search of the program's second straight and 25th NCAA Regional Championship.  Eleven schools are scheduled to participate, with the top three wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes advancing to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 10 and 11.
 
 Ticket Information
-- Admission for the day will be $15 for adults and $10 for students, 12 and Under/65 and Older and first responders
-- If a spectator is coming for only one session, then the cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, 12 and Under/65 and Older and first responders
-- There are no pass lists for this event.
 
      Along with No. 2-ranked Pitt-Johnstown, which claimed its 24th region title last season, this year's Super I Regional Tournament will feature several other of the nation's top-ranked teams, including No. 9 Gannon, No. 13 Mercyhurst, and No. 22 Millersville
 
      In addition to the nationally-ranked teams and the host school East Stroudsburg, American International (MA) College, Alderson-Broaddus (WV) University, American International (MA) College, Fairmont State (WV) University, Kutztown University, Seton Hill University, and Shippensburg University will also be part of the 11-team field.
 
      Many of the nation's top-ranked individuals will be battling for spots in the national tournament, including Pitt-Johnstown's No. 1-ranked and two-time All-American Jacob Ealy at 149 lbs., Mercyhurst's No. 2-ranked Eric Bartos (133 lbs.), Gannon's No.2-ranked Alex Farenchak (165 lbs.) and No. 3-ranked Nick Young (149 lbs.).
 
      In all, 27 nationally-ranked wrestlers are scheduled for compete, including nine of Pitt-Johnstown's 10 wrestlers.
 
      Along with Ealy, the No.1-ranked wrestler in the country at 149 lbs., Pitt-Johnstown has eight other wrestlers nationally-ranked.  They Include:  No. 13 Trevon Gray (125 lbs.), 2022 NCAA National Qualifier and No. 12 Caleb Morris (141 lbs.), 2022 NCAA All-American and No. 7 Nate Smith (157 lbs.), 2022 National Qualifier and No. 15 Dillon Keane (165 lbs.), No. 10 Alex Weber (174 lbs.), 3-time All-American and No. 12 Brock Biddle (184 lbs.), No. 10 Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.), and No. 5 Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.).
 
      Either Byron Daubert or Dajauhn Hertzog is expected represent the Mountain Cats at 133 lbs.
 
     
Schedule of Events
Session I will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the First Round, Championship semifinals & consolation quarterfinals (3 mats) followed by consolation semifinals (3 mats)

      Session II will follow with the Championship Semifinals, Consolation Round 3, and Semifinals) (3 mats)

      Koehler Fieldhouse will be cleared of spectators at the conclusion of Round two and doors will reopen for
for Spectator Admission approximately 30 minutes.
 
Session III will consist of Placement Matches: 1st, 3rd, 5th; (True-4th matches to follow if necessary. (3 mats)
