The Pitt-Johnstown men's golf team shot an overall score of 634 (+58) to finish seventh out of 14 teams in the Davis & Elkins Battle of Brunswick Invitational played at the Brunswick Plantation Golf Course in Calabash, North Carolina on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mountain Cats were paced by Mauricio Hernandez, who shot a team-best 154 (+10) over the two-day tournament to tie for 16th place. Mario Battaglia followed close behind with a 158 (+14) to come in tied for 34th.
Ethan Webb fired an eight-over par 80 on both days to finish with a 160 (+16) and tie for 42nd. Mitch Jeffe closed the tournament tied for 58th after shooting a 165 (+21), while Justin Scally was deadlocked with five other players for 62nd with a 166 (+22).
Davis & Elkins narrowly took home team title honors with a 593 (+17), just one stroke better than Wayne State (MI).
The Mountain Cats will travel to the California (PA)/University of Charleston (WV) Glade Springs Invitational at Glade Springs Resort in West Virginia next Sunday and Monday.
