Mario Battaglia shot a 78 in the opening round and a 77 in the final round to tie for 26th and lead the Mountain Cat golfers at Monday and Tuesday's season-ending Indiana (PA) Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational at Indiana Country Club. As a team, Pitt-Johnstown finished 11th in the 16-team field.
Connor Curry shot a two-day total of 138 to win the individual title and lead Malone (OH) to the team championship with 593 strokes, seven strokes better than second-place Indiana (PA).
Along with Battaglia,
Mauricio Hernandez Esparza finished tied for 31, one shot behind Battaglia at 156 (76, 80), while
Justin Scally tied for 42nd-place at 158 (77, 81).Â
Mitch Jeffe tied for 71st (82, 81, 163), and
Sal Cerilli tied for 79th (85, 79, 164) for the Mountain Cats.
Malone captured the team championship, while Indiana (PA), Davis & Elkins (WV) (603), University of Charleston (WV) (609), and West Liberty (WV) (615) rounded out the Top-5 teams.
