The Pitt-Johnstown volleyball team will make its 2023 home debut and tip-off PSAC-West play against Seton Hill, Friday evening in the Sports Center.  Match-time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Coach Justin Haupt, in his second stint at the helm of the Pitt-Johnstown program, and the Mountain Cats are 9-2 to start the season after posting a 3-1 record at last weekend's Wheeling/West Liberty Atlantic Region Crossover Tournament.  Defensive specialist Gabi DeRenzo was named to the all-tournament team.

Seton Hill, under 39th-year Coach Rick Hall, slipped to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in the PSAC West after Tuesday's four set loss to Edinboro.  Paige Cole had 20 kills and Catie Flohr had 14 kills for the Griffins.

The Mountain Cats hold an 11-10 lead in the series.  Last year, the teams split two PSAC matches.  On Sept. 23, Lualis Alvarado had 11 kills in Pitt-Johnstown's five-set win in the Sports Center.  The Griffins earned a five-set win in Greensburg on Oct. 22 behind Cole's 15 kills.  Alvarado added a match-high 21 kills for the Mountain Cats.

Pitt-Johnstown begins a stretch of six straight road matches starting at Edinboro on Saturday.  The Mountain Cats return home against Slippery Rock on Oct. 13 and California (PA) on Oct. 14.
