The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will be back in the Sports Center, Saturday afternoon when they host a PSAC doubleheader against Slippery Rock. Tip-off for the women's game is set for 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
The Pitt-Johnstown women, under 11
th-year
Head Coach Mike Drahos, is 11-5 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC after Wednesday's, 79-62, home setback to Indiana (PA).
Peyton Alazaus scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, and
Camille Dominick added a career-high 13 points and six rebounds. The Mountain Cats also got a dozen points from
Hayden Taylor against the Crimson Hawks. Last Saturday, Pitt-Johnstown earned an 80-65 PSAC win at Edinboro behind 22 points from
Cassidy Crawford and 21 points from
Olivia Fasick.
With her six points against IUP, Fasick enters the game ranked 31
st on the Pitt-Johnstown Scoring List with 1,086 points, while Alazaus needs 25 points to become Pitt-Johnstown's 40
th 1,000-point scorer. Alazaus is also 20 3-pointers shy of tying the Mountain Cats career-record of 199.
First-year
Head Coach Ryenn Micaletti's Slippery Rock squad comes in at 1-11 overall and in 1-8 in the PSAC following a, 74-50, home loss to third-ranked Gannon on Wednesday.
Regan Atkins' 18 points,
Anye Washington's 12 points, and
Endya Robinson's eight points and seven boards paced Slippery Rock. The Rock also fell at home to California (PA), 74-53, last Saturday.
Since the 2004-05 season, the Mountain Cats hold a 20-6 lead in the series, including a pair of wins last year. On Jan. 21 in the Sports Center,
Ashley Norling's double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds and Alazaus' 13 points and five boards guided four Pitt-Johnstown players who scored in double figures in a 78-45 victory. The Mountain Cats completed the season sweep with a 78-69 win in Slippery Rock on Feb. 25. Norling had 22 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high 11 assists, while Alazaus tallied 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Isabellah Middleton (19 points) and
Deleah Gibson (18 points) led the way for the Rock.

th year) Pitt-Johnstown men's squad enters the game at 5-11 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC following a tough, 73-72, home loss to Indiana (PA) on Wednesday.
Nick Watts' team-high of 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench paced four Mountain Cat double figure scorers.
Ryan Smith and
Andy Zuchelli each netted 18 points, and
Will Kromka chipped-in 12 points. Last Saturday, Pitt-Johnstown got a double-double of 23 points and 11 boards from
Gavin Headings and 17 points from
Zuchelli in a 100-95 setback at Edinboro.
Slippery Rock, under sixth-year
Head Coach Ian Grady, had its two-game winning streak snapped and slipped to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in conference-play after 95-90 overtime home loss to No. 10/15 Gannon on Wednesday.
Maceo Austin's 26 points and 12 rebounds led the Rock. Slippery Rock also got 23 points from
Ike Herster, 19 points and nine boards from
Jomo Goings, and 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds from
Lashon Lindsey. Last Saturday, the Rock upset 13
th-ranked California (PA), 89-72.
Since first meeting during the 1972-73 season, the Mountain Cats hold a 39-23 advantage in the series, including winning seven of the last nine meetings. Last season, Pitt-Johnstown won two of the three match-ups. After splitting a pair of regular season games, the Mountain Cats got game-highs of 22 points and eight rebounds from
John Paul Kromka in a, 77-73, win over the Rock in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament on Feb. 27. Lindsey and
Amante Britt each scored 15 points for Slippery Rock.
Pitt-Johnstown visits California (PA) for PSAC West games on Wednesday, before returning home for Winterfest Weekend to host a conference doubleheader against Gannon next Saturday in the Sports Center.
