Jake Morgan shot six-over-par to finish ninth and pace the Pitt-Johnstown men's golf team to a fifth-place finish at Monday and Tuesday's Gannon Bud Elwell Invitational at the par-72 Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie.
Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen shot 10-under to claim medalist honors, nine strokes better than IUP's Guillermo Salazar, and lead the Golden Knights to a 26-stroke victory over second-place Millersville.
After opening the tournament on Monday with a 1-under par, 71, Morgan shot a 79 on Tuesday to finish ninth at +6.
Justin Scally tied for 10
th with Gannon's Michael Wareman, one shot behind Morgan at +7 (74, 77), while
Lucas Smith placed 18
th at +12 (77, 79),
Eli Ropietski finished 22
nd at +13 (77, 80), and
Mario Battaglia ended in a three-way tie for 33
rd at +18 (80, 82).
In addition, playing as an individual,
Sal Cerilli placed 46
th at +29 (84, 89).
As a team, Gannon wrapped-up the eight-team tournament in first-place at +1. Millersville (+27), Gannon 'B' Team (+35), IUP (+37), and Pitt-Johnstown (+38) rounded out the top-five.
Pitt-Johnstown will close out the fall portion of the schedule at the 2024 PSAC Men's Golf Championships at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Oct. 18-20.
