Six double-digit scorers help Mountain Cats blast Penn State Greater Allegheny

Johnstown, Pa.

Smith, RyanSix different Mountain Cats breached double figures in scoring on the way to a comfortable 112-68 rout of Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday evening at the Sports Center.

Pitt-Johnstown won its second straight game to improve to 2-1 behind a game-high four 3-pointers and 18 points from Ryan Smith, who also chipped in three rebounds and three assists in just 20 minutes of action.

Sophomore transfer Baden Forup clinched his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jay Rose hit three triples and scored 15 points. Nick Watts had 14 points and four boards in 17 minutes off the bench.

Sophomore guard Vinnie Cugini provided 12 points and seven rebounds, while Adam Bilinsky added 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Transfer guard Sean Dillon racked up a game-high nine assists to go along with five points and six rebounds.

The Mountain Cats had a 68-26 advantage in points in the paint, and it was a large reason why they shot 56.5% (48-of-85) from the field. They also received 46 points from members of the bench.

After being down 5-0 less than two minutes into the game, it didn't take long for Pitt-Johnstown to flip the switch. A 24-9 scoring run capped by a free throw from Cugini gave the Mountain Cats a 10-point advantage at the 10:53 mark of the first half.

Another layup from Cugini with 19 seconds remaining in the half afforded the Mountain Cats a 23-point cushion, their largest to that point, before taking a 50-30 advantage into the break.

The lead never shrunk below 18 in the second half as the Mountain Cats ran the lead as high as 47 points in the final minute.

Pitt-Johnstown will host the South Carolina Beaufort on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sports Center.
