Basketball Teams To Host PSAC Crossover Games Against West Chester, Tuesday Afternoon

The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will host a PSAC Crossover doubleheader against West Chester, Tuesday Afternoon in the Sports Center.  The women will tip-off the doubleheader against the Golden Rams at 1 p.m. with the men's games scheduled for 3 p.m.
 
            The Pitt-Johnstown women, under first-year Head Coach D'wan Shackleford-Vickroy, enters the game at 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the PSAC following a 74-59 conference crossover setback at Shippensburg on Dec. 6 and a 76-38 crossover loss at Millersville on Dec. 7.  Riley Childress' career highs of 16 points and six rebounds and Lydia Miller's career-best 12 points led Pitt-Johnstown against Shippensburg.  Belle Bosch posted a game-high 18 points and five rebounds to lead the Mountain Cats at Millersville.  Pitt-Johnstown also played an exhibition game at Division I Colgate (NY) on Saturday.
            Head Coach Kiera Wooden's (11th Year) West Chester Golden Rams are 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the PSAC.  On Dec. 6, the Golden Rams earned a 65-54 PSAC Crossover over California (PA), before suffering a 69-53 loss to Indiana (PA) on Dec. 7.  West Chester also visited Chestnut Hill for a non-conference game on Sunday and suffered a 65-47 loss.  Michelle Kozicki scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Anna McTamney finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Rams.
            Pitt-Johnstown and West Chester have met nine times since the 2004-05 season and the Golden Rams hold a 5-4 advantage. In the last meeting on Dec. 18, 2022, the Mountain Cats earned an 84-78 win in the Sports Center behind Olivia Fasick's game-high 26 points and seven assists and Peyton Alazaus' 16 points.  West Chester was led by Emily McAteer's 25 points and game-high 13 rebounds and Kozicki's 21 points.
            Pitt-Johnstown will visit Shepherd (WV) for a PSAC Crossover game on Dec. 21, before breaking for the holidays.  The Mountain Cats then travel to West Virginia State for a non-conference game n Jan. 2 and to Slippery Rock to open PSAC West-play on Jan. 6.
 
 
            Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cat men's squad split a pair of PSAC Crossover games on Dec. 6 and Dec.7 and come in at 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC.  On Dec. 6, Ryan Smith, who needs 24 points to become the Mountain Cats 35th 1,000-point scorer, poured in a career-high 27 points, and Sean Dillon had 15 points and eight rebounds to pace four Mountain Cats who scored in double figures in a 91-86 win at Shippensburg.  On Dec. 7, Millersville earned a 96-72 win over Pitt-Johnstown.  The Mountain Cats got 20 points from Vinnie Cugini and 16 points and six rebounds from Baden Forup.
            Head Coach Damien Blair's (17th year) West Chester Golden Rams, 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC, extended their winning streak to eight consecutive games with an 80-76 non-conference victory at Caldwell (NJ) on Saturday.  Joshua Walker's 18 points and nine rebounds and Dylan Blair's 16 points led four West Chester players who scored in double figures.  The Golden Rams also picked-up a 77-60 PSAC Crossover win against California (PA) on Dec. 6 and an 88-80 crossover win against Indiana (PA) on Dec. 7.
            The Mountain Cats and Golden Rams have met 15 times since the 1989-90 season and Pitt-Johnstown holds an 8-7, advantage.  The Mountain Cats have won the last two meetings, including an 81-79 victory in the Sports Center on Dec. 18, 2022.  John Paul Kromka scored 15 points, while Joe Batt and Drew Magestro added 14 points apiece to pace five Mountain Cats who scored in double figures.  West Chester was led by Elijah Allen's game-high 18 points.  Robert Smith and Anthony Purnell, Jr. chipped-in 15 points each.
            The Mountain Cats visit Shepherd (WV) for a PSAC Crossover game on Dec. 21, before breaking for the holidays.  Pitt-Johnstown will begin PSAC West-play at Slippery Rock on Jan. 6, then return home to host a conference doubleheader with the women's team against Edinboro on Jan. 8 in the Sports Center.
