Anthony Dean-Neil got a 58
th-place finish from
Brandt Patterson to lead the Mountain Cats' men's cross country team at Saturday's season-opening Edinboro Doug Watts Open.
IUP's Mike Formica claimed individual medalist honors at 19:06.70, but Slippery Rock won the team championship with 49 points. The Crimson Hawks were second (82 points), followed by Edinboro (83 points), East Stroudsburg (108 points), and Daemen (NY) (151 points) in a field that featured 11 teams. Pitt-Johnstown was 10
th with 261 points.
Along with Patterson's 58
th-place finish with a time of 21:.27.00,
Ryan Hayes placed 62
nd at 31:30.30, and
Kaden Markovich was 76
th at 21:15.60 for the Mountain cats.
Tyler Harold (90
th, 23:29.60) and
Gavin Smith (93
rd, 23:52.30) rounded out Pitt-Johnstown's top-5 runners.
The Mountain Cats travel to the Youngstown State (OH) University Invitational on Sept. 20 and to the Lock Haven University Invitational on Sept. 27.
