Paclib, MakaylaIn just its first year as a varsity sponsored sport, Head Coach Shane Valko and the Pitt-Johnstown women's wrestling program are set to make history when Makayla Paclib (131 lbs.) takes the mat at Friday and Saturday's NCAA Women's Wrestling National Championships at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.

Paclib became the Mountain Cats' first NCAA women's national qualifier by placing third at the Regional Championships in West Liberty, W.Va. on Feb. 20-21.  Paclib, seeded fourth entering the regional tournament, reached the semifinals, but suffered a 9-0 decision loss to top-seeded Lehigh's Aubre Krazer.  Paclib bounced back by pinning Bethany's (WV) sixth-seeded Rosemary Dodd at 5:47 to advance to the third-place match, where she held off third-seeded Stacy Bloomfield (East Stroudsburg), 12-8, to secure her spot in the national tournament.

Paclib, unseeded for the national championships, is scheduled to take on Iowa's fourth-seeded Karlee Brooks in the First Round.
