Makayla Paclib made history when she became the program's first athlete to compete in the 2026 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships, Friday morning at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa. Paclib took it a step further and posted a 2-1 record on the opening day to advance to Saturday's action and guarantee her a spot on the podium as an NCAA All-American.
On Saturday, Session III will start at 11 a.m. ET and consist of the Championship Semifinals, 3
rd Round of Consolations, Consolation Semifinals, and 3
rd, 5
th, 7
th Place Matches (4 mats) (90 matches), (approx. 5 hours)
The Parade of All-Americans will take place on Saturday at 7:40 p.m. ET, followed the Championship Finals scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (10 matches).
Paclib took the mat for an opening round match against Iowa's fourth-seeded Karlee Brooks. Brooks jumped out to a quick 6-0 first period lead, before Paclib cut it to 6-2 in the second period. However, Brooks went on to a 12-2 technical fall win at 5:06, sending Paclib to the first round of the consolations to take on Chadron State's Piper Cadden.
In that bout, Paclib made history again with a 4-1 decision victory by scoring the final three points to record Pitt-Johnstown's first win at the national tournament.
The win sent Paclib to the second round of the consolations where he ran out to a 7-0 second-period lead on her way to a 9-2 win to advance to the third round of the consolations and punch her ticket to a spot on the podium.
Paclib is scheduled to take on West Liberty's Cassia Zammit in Saturday's third round of the consolations. The winner advances to the consolation semifinals, and the loser will wrestle in the seventh-place match.
