Carrie Ferguson, a 1990-91 Honorable Mention Kodak All-American for Head Coach Jodi Gault, etched her name in the Pitt-Johnstown Lady Cat Basketball record books and was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams, including a team that won a regional title in 1987-88.
After spot playing time as a freshman in 1987-88, Ms. Ferguson, a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School, began to make a name for herself as a sophomore when she earned spots on the All-Tournament Team at both the Mountain Cat Classic and the Kutztown University Tournament.
Ms. Ferguson's Lady Cat career continued to blossom in 1989-90 when she was named First-Team All-Mideast Conference and set the Pitt-Johnstown single-season record for rebounds with 294.  That record still stands today.  She was also named the Most Valuable Player at the Mideast Conference Championship Tournament and the Mountain Cat Classic.
However, it was as a senior in 1990-91 that the nation took notice of Ms. Ferguson after she was selected as the Mideast Conference Co-Player of the Year and the conference tournament's Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.  Ms. Ferguson guided Pitt-Johnstown to another NCAA Tournament berth and was named a Kodak Honorable Mention All-American.  She also collected her third straight Mountain Cat Classis All-Tournament honor and her second consecutive first-team all-conference accolade.
Along with setting the Lady Cat record for rebounds in a season, Ms. Ferguson also broke the Pitt-Johnstown record for free-throws made in a season (137) and free-throws made and attempted in career (519).  She is currently tied for second in free-throws in a season, and third in free-throws made and attempted in a career.
In addition, Ms. Ferguson's 1,344 career points rank 13th on the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List and her 911 career rebounds are tied with Carrie Thomas (1995-99) for second all-time on the Lady Cat Rebounding List.
Ms. Ferguson graduated from Pitt-Johnstown in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Economics/Management.  From 1991 to 1995, Ms. Ferguson worked in the Accounting Department at ABB Power T&D, Inc.
In 1996, she earned her Elementary Teaching Certificate from Saint Vincent College and was hired by the Fox Chapel Area School District, where she continues to work today.  Ms. Ferguson spent 15 years as a First Grade Teacher, seven years as a Gifted Support Teacher, and currently serves as a RtII Facilitator.
Between 2003 and 2006, Ms. Ferguson also received her Master's in Education Degree in Administration and Policy Studies, a Supervisor of Curriculum Certificate, and a Principal K-12 Certificate all form the University of Pittsburgh.
Ms. Ferguson also earned the PAGE Challenge Award for Fox Chapel Area School District (Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education) for outstanding performance as an educator for challenging, motivating, and creating the spark of excitement that encourages and enables intellectually gifted students to reach their highest potential.
Ms. Ferguson, a certified USA Swim Coach, and her spouse, Carol Zornan, have a 13-year-old child, Zachary Zornan Ferguson.

"Being inducted into the Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Hall of Fame brings great pride as it serves as an avenue to share my own passion as a scholar-athlete and instill positive character traits in my son, Zachary," Ms. Ferguson said.  "Raising a young athlete, I try to stress the importance of finding a balance of excellence in both education and athletics, while remaining steadfast in one's personal beliefs and character, attributing the same levels of perseverance and striving for excellence in each of these domains simultaneously.  Furthermore, after spending more than 20 years working in education, I see the value of these qualities as my former students have gone on to excel in their own ambitions.  My hope is that achieving this recognition, along with my colleagues in the 2019 induction class, will serve as a platform to further motivate and encourage my son and my students to mirror some of these qualities and attain greatness in their future endeavors.  Thank you for this honor."
