After Honoring Coach Pecora's 500th Win, No. 11 Wrestlers Hammer Ohio Valley
     12/08/12... (Results) After celebrating Head Coach Pat Pecora's 500th career victory, the 11th-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers got pins from Gary lantz (Delta, Pa.) (174 lbs.) and Sean O'Connell (Farmington, CT) on their way to dismantling Ohio Valley (WV) University, 47-0, Saturday night in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown improved to 3-2. 
     Evan Link (Cresson, Pa.) got things going for the Mountain Cats with an 11-3 major decision over Tyree Gardener at 125 lbs.
     Following Glenn Winslow's (Patton, Pa.) forfeit win at 133 lbs., Ben Rager (Ebensburg, Pa.) defeated Nikoloz Varazashvli, 7-1, to make it 13-0.
     Pitt-Johnstown kept rolling.  All-American Jack Bachman (Greensburg, Pa.) used a third period takedown to deal Tyler Green a 4-2 loss at 149 lbs., and Joel Paolo (Weirton, WV) won by major decision, 15-5, over Eli Stewart at 165 lbs. to build the lead to 20-0.
      Lantz and O'Connell each won by fall around around All-American Travis McKillop's (Lower Burrell, Pa.) forfeit victory at 184 lbs.  Lantz pinned Kobina Henriques at 2:36 at 174 lbs., and O'Connell pinned Chase Long at 1:54 at 197 lbs.
     The Mountain Cats closed out the shutout and set the final at 47-0 when Josh Duplin (Johnstown, Pa.) won a 4-3 sudden victory over Blake Lucas with riding time at 285 lbs..
     On February 14, 2012, Coach Pecora became the first NCAA Division II wrestling coach to reach 500 wins when his Mountain Cats defeated Shippensburg University, 39-3. Prior to the start of the match, Pitt-Johnstown honored this record-setting accomplishment by presenting Coach Pecora two photo collages and a plaque from the NWCA commemorating the milestone.
     In addition, the University officially launched the 500 & Beyond campaign to support Pitt-Johnstown's Wrestling Program.  
     After breaking for Finals Week and the holidays, the Mountain Cats will travel to the Wilkes Open on December 28 and to Millersville University on January 5. Pitt-Johnstown's next home match is scheduled for January 11 against Lake Erie (OH) College at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
