Baseball Falls to Chestnut Hill to Open Spring Trip

Josh Campanella (Allison, Park, Pa.) and Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.) each had two hits, but Chestnut Hill College broke a tie game with a run in the ninth inning to deal the Mountain Cats a 4-3 loss, Saturday night to open the spring trip in Fort Pierce, FL. Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 1-3.
After Chestnut Hill took a 3-2 lead with three runs in the third inning, the Mountain Cats answered to tie it in the bottom of the fourth. However, Tim DiMonte's sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth plated George Kochu with the eventual game-winning run.
Campanella went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Morrow collected two hits in four at-bats. Seth Roy (Bedford, Pa.) drove in a run, and Nick Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) added a double.
Derek Younker (Bid Cove Tannery, Pa.) suffered the loss after giving up one run on two hits in two innings of work. Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) got the start and surrendered three runs on five hits in four innings. Moore struck out four and walked three.
The Mountain Cats continue their spring trip in Fort Peirce, FL with a single game against Ohio Valley (WV) University on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and a doubleheader against Post (NY) University on Monday at 10 a.m.
