Women's Soccer Rolls to 10-0 Home Win Over Ohio Valley

Head Coach Crystal Dye's Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team ended its 2007 home schedule in fine fashion with a 10-0 victory over visiting Ohio Valley (WV) University, Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Lauren Penn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Brittany Pryde (Fairhope, Pa.) each had hat tricks to help Pitt Johnstown improve to 8-10-0 overall and 4-7-0 in the WVIAC.
Pitt Johnstown, which dominated the action from start to finish, built a 4-0 halftime lead and added six more second half goals in the 10-0 win. Penn scored her first goal of the match in the 10th minute to give Pitt Johnstown a 1-0 lead. Pryde followed with back-to-back goals in the 11th and 18th minutes, before freshman Alissa Falcone (Murrysville, Pa.) ended the first half scoring with her fourth goal of the season in the 38th minute.
Pitt Johnstown kept the pressure on in the second half. Penn opened up the second half scoring with her second goal of the match in the 52nd minute to increase the lead to 5-0. Freshman Hailey Coons (Shippensburg, Pa.) and sophomore Lindsay Plowman (Apollo, Pa.) scored in the 55th and 58th minutes, before Penn completed her hat trick off of an assist from Emily Babik (St. Mary's, Pa.) at the 60:00 mark. Five minutes later, Pryde scored her third goal of the match, and Plowman ended the scoring with her second goal in the 89th minute.
Pryde finished with three goals and two assists, while Penn had a hat trick and one assist. Coach Dye also got two goals and an assist from Plowman and a pair of assists from sophomore Kristin Kelly (Bethel Park, Pa.).
Red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slickville, Pa.) faced just one shot and made one save for Pitt Johnstown, which out-shot the Fighting Scots 52-1 and held a 27-1 advantage in shots on-goal. Paha improved to 6-7-0.
With the loss, Ohio Valley fell to 2-15-0 overall and 1-10-0 in WVIAC play.
Pitt Johnstown will wrap up the 2007 regular season with WVIAC road matches at Seton Hill University on Monday and the University of Charleston (WV) on Wednesday.
