No. 16 UNC-Pembroke Completes Series Sweep of Mountain Cats

No. 16 University of North Carolina-Pembroke broke open a 2-2 game with five runs in the third inning en route to a 19-4 victory and a series sweep of the Mountain Cats, Monday afternoon in Pembroke, N.C.  Jake Warner had three hits for Pitt-Johnstown, now 0-3.
 
Jake Stern and Dillon Boyer drove in first inning runs to put the Mountain Cats in front early, but the Braves answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame, before adding five more in the third inning.
 
Warner went 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Boyer collected two hits and drove in a run.  Ernesto Rizzitano also had two hits for Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Nate Pope got the start on the mound for the Mountain cats and surrendered seven runs on six hits in 2.2 innings.
 
With the win, UNC-Pembroke improved to 6-0.
 
The Mountain Cats travel to Shepherd (WV) University for a doubleheader on Saturday, before playing a three-game series at Concord (WV) University on February 22 and 23.
