Box Score 2 Brett Marabito combined to go 9-for-9 with four doubles and nine RBI to lead the Mountain Cats to 13-9 and 9-2 wins at IUP on Saturday to complete a four-game PSAC Western Division sweep of the Crimson Hawks. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 15-19 overall and 10-8 in conference-play.
In the opener, the Mountain Cats used a four run seventh inning to break a tie game in the 13-9 victory.
Marabito was 5-for-5 with two doubles and drove in six of 10 runs in game one.
Jake Warner had two hits and two RBI, while
Dillon Boyer also had two hits for the Mountain Cats.
Ernesto Rizzitano added a double and a pair of RBI.
Ryan Socol picked-up his first win of the season in relief of starter
Ryan Bills. Socol allowed two runs (1 earned) on three hits over the final 3.1 innings. Bills pitched the first 3.2 innings and surrendered seven runs (four earned) on six hits.
In the nightcap, Pitt-Johnstown broke open a 1-0 game with four runs in the fourth inning en route to the 9-2 victory.
Marabito collected four more hits, including two doubles and four RBI.
Matt McGhee and Rizzitano both had two hits and drove in a run.
Nate Negri chipped-in two hits, and Warner had two RBI.
Nate Pope improved to 1-5 after holding the Crimson Hawks to two runs on seven hits over the first 5.2 innings.
After suffering the weekend sweep, IUP dropped to 12-19 overall and 6-12 in the PSAC West.
Pitt-Johnstown will host California (PA) for a PSAC West doubleheader on Tuesday and Slippery Rock on Friday for another conference doubleheader. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium. Â
