#11 Shippensburg Shuts Out Mountain Cats, 4-0

Eleventh-ranked Shippensburg University opened-up a 2-0 third-inning lead and had three pitchers combine to hold the Mountain Cats to just a pair of hits in a 4-0 non-conference victory over Pitt-Johnstown, Tuesday afternoon at Point Stadium.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 11-19.
 
The Raiders got an RBI double from Mike Douglas and a Pat Kregeloh run-producing single to go in front 2-0.  Shippensburg added a run in the fifth, before Kregeloh's solo homer over the left field screen in the seventh made it 4-0.
 
That all the Red Raiders needed.  Starter Shawn Patterson tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, a Nate Negri single through the left side to lead off the bottom of the fifth.  Kyle McClintock pitched two hitless innings, and Thomas Swartz gave up just one hit, a Jake Warner ninth-inning single, over the final two innings.
 
Brantley Rice pitched the first two innings for Pitt-Johnstown and surrendered just two base hits.  Elliott Chamberlain took the loss and fell to 0-1 after giving up the three third-inning runs.
 
Kregeloh went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun and two RBI, while Cody Ezolt had two doubles and drove in a run for Shippensburg, which improved to 22-8.
 
Pitt-Johnstown will host a PSAC Western Division doubleheader against Indiana (PA) on Friday at noon at Point Stadium, before traveling to Indiana to complete the four-game series on Saturday.
