After the Mountain Cats swept a pair of game from Gannon to open the PSAC schedule at Point Stadium on Friday, the Golden Knights returned the favor by downing the Mountain Cats 9-8 and 6-2, Monday afternoon in Erie.Â
Jake Stern belted a 2-run homerun in the opener for Pitt-Johnstown, which slipped to 2-16 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC Western Division.

In game one,
Jake Stern's two run homerun in the top of the first inning gave the Mountain Cats the early lead, but Gannon followed with four runs in the bottom of the frame and three more in the second to build a 7-2 advantage.

Pitt-Johnstown rallied to eventually tie it at eight with four runs in the fifth.Â
Luke Williams,
Sean Sleigh, and
Dillon Boyer all had RBI base hits, and
Nico Pecora drove in the tying run with a fielder's choice ground out.

However, the Golden Knights got their first two hitters on base to start the bottom of the seventh, and Charles Benack followed with a single to left field that chased home Marr Oruch to give Gannon the 9-8 victory.

Along with Stern's two-run homer, Williams had two hits and drove in three for the Mountain Cats, while also had a pair of hits and an RBI.Â
Ernesto Rizzitano went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Shane Supanick took the loss in relief and slipped to 1-2 after allowing the run in the seventh.Â
Logan Fluke got the start and tossed the first 1.2 innings, giving up seven runs on six hits.

In the nightcap, Gannon jumped on Pitt-Johnstown starter
Ken Gault for five first inning runs on its way to the 6-2 win.

Gault gave up the five first inning run, but just one was earned to fall to 0-4.Â
Brad Coleman pitched 2.1 innings and surrendered a run, and
Tyler Black struck out five Gannon hitters in three scoreless innings for the Mountain Cats.

Mike Palkovitz went 2-for-3 with a triple, and Sleigh had two hits, including a double for Pitt-Johnstown.Â
Lino Bravo and Stern each had an RBI.

With the sweep, the Golden Knights improved to 10-8 overall and evened their record in conference-play at 2-2.

The Mountain Cats travel to Seton Hill for a PSAC doubleheader on Friday, before hosting the Griffins for a pair of conference games on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium.Â
