Head coach Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team will put its four-game winning streak on the line with a non-conference game against Salem (WV) University, Wednesday evening in the Sports Center.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Pitt-Johnstown comes in at 6-1 after sweeping a pair of games to open PSAC-play on Nov. 23 and 24.  On November 23, Gabrielle Smith scored 20 points to lead the Mountain Cats to a 59-53 win over East Stroudsburg, before adding 21 more points in a 79-64 victory over Kutztown on Nov. 24.  Olivia Fasick (15 points), Lindsay Shuke (11 points), Maddie Shanahan (10 points), and Ashley Norling (10 points) also scored in double figures for Pitt-Johnstown.

Smith enters tonight's game ranked 20th on the Pitt-Johnstown All-time Scoring List with 1,220 points and 30th on the all-time rebounding list with 487 rebounds.

Nationally for the Mountain Cats, Smith leads the country in free-throws made (53), ranks second in free-throws attempted (64) and 41st in scoring (19.1 ppg.).  Fasick is 13th in steals (22), 34th in assists (34), and 59th in steals per game (2.75), and Makalyn Clapper is 59th in steals (16).

First-year Head Coach Cody Gilmore's Salem Tigers slipped to 1-5 following a 65-54 home loss to 15th-ranked Indiana (PA) last Wednesday.  Precious Price and Nia Bishop led the Tigers with 22 and 13 points, respectively.

Nationally for Salem, Bishop is 31st in steals per game (3.17), 39th in points per game (19.2 ppg.), and 46th in 3-point field goal percentage (48.4%).

Pitt-Johnstown and Salem met last season on December 5 in Salem, W.Va. and the Tigers came away with an 86-69 victory behind Bishop's 20 points and Endia Jones' 16 points and 10 rebounds.  The Mountain Cats were led by Smith's game-high 25 points and seven rebounds, Alli McGrath's 20 points and nine rebounds, and Shanahan's 15 points and game-high 11 rebounds.

Pitt-Johnstown will play four consecutive PSAC road games beginning at Bloomsburg on Saturday, before opening the Spring Semester in the Sports Center with a conference doubleheader with the men's team against Gannon on January 6 at 5 :30 p.m.
