Pitt-Johnstown sent six wrestlers into the finals and
Brock Biddle (174 lbs.) came away with a second straight title to the National Tournament at Sunday's 2021 NCAA Division II Super Region I Tournament at Mercyhurst University. The Mountain Cats placed second behind Gannon University.
Gannon, which sent all 10 of its wrestlers to the finals, secured six individual regional titles and claimed the Super Region I championship with 122 points. Pitt-Johnstown was second with 90 points, while Fairmont State (WV) (44.5 pts.), Mercyhurst (39.5 pts.), Alderson-Broaddus (WV) (27.5 pts.), and American International (MA) (25.0 pts.) rounded out the six-team field.
After bye in the quarterfinals, Biddle opened the tournament with an 11-4 win over Fairmont State's Cade Moisey, before claiming his regional championship and punching his ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championships in St. Louis, MO on March 12-13 with a 16-2 major decision over Gannon's Connor Day.

Caleb Morris (141 lbs.),
Nate Smith (157 lbs.), and
Allan Beattie (285 lbs.) all placed second.
In a normal season, the top-three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes would earn spots in the NCAA National Championships. This year is different due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The champion from each weight class automatically advances to the NCAA Championships and wild card spots will awarded in Super Region I. Those will be released by the NCAA.
Pitt-Johnstown also got third-place finishes from
Jacob Ealy (149 lbs.),
Alex Delp 184 lbs. and
Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.) and a fourth-place finish from
Dillon Keane at (165 lbs.). Ealy then went on to a 3-2 win over Gannon's third-ranked
Dominic Means in a True Second-Place Match.
