
Pitt-Johnstown softball coach
Niki (Cognigni) Pecora earned induction into the Pennsbury High School Hall of Fame as a member of Saturday's Class of 2021.
Cognigni-Pecora was a four-year letter-winner for Coach Frank McSherry at Pennsbury High School where whe was a member of the 2005 and 2007 PIAA Softball State Championship teams.
Cognigni-Pecora, who hit .478 during the 2007 season, was a 2008 First-Team All-SOL selection, a First-Team All-Area choice, and was named to the All-Golden Team.
She went on to play softball at the University of Pittsburgh from 2008-2012 where she played in 202 games at shortstop.
After earning her degree in Communication in 2012, Cognigni-Pecora began her coaching career.
She took over as the Pitt-Johnstown softball coach in 2016. Entering her seventh season at Pitt-Johnstown, Cognigni-Pecora led the Mountain Cats to a program-best 19 victories in 2019, while the team's nine PSAC victories also set a Pitt-Johnstown record.Â
Kristie Radvan and
Jade Stubblefield were each named All-PSAC Central Division in 2019.
In 2016, Cognigni-Pecora coach Morgan Cannin, Pitt-Johnstown softball's first All-PSAC selection.
