Basketball Teams to Recognize Seniors Prior to Saturday’s PSAC Games against Edinboro

The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate Senior Day prior to Saturday's PSAC doubleheader against Edinboro in the Sports Center.  The women's game will tip-off at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
 
Head Coach Mike Drahos and the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball program will recognize Peyton Alazaus, Alana Belknap, Cassidy Crawford, Olivia Fasick, Kylah Franklin, Kendyl McKissock, Hayden Taylor, and Krista Troyer and Head Coach Bob Rukavina and the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat men's basketball program will recognize Colin Cote, Grant Timmerson, and Andy Zuchelli.
 
The Pitt-Johnstown women made it two straight wins and improved 14-8 overall and 9-7 in the PSAC after a 67-56 victory at Clarion on Wednesday.  Crawford scored a game-high 20 points, while Camille Dominick posted career-highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Franklin chipped-in 11 points.  Last Saturday, Fasick's game-high 18 points and Taylor's 15 points guided the Mountain Cats to a 67-46 home win over Mercyhurst.
 
With her nine points against the Golden Eagles on Wednesday, Fasick moved into 28th place on the Pitt-Johnstown Scoring List with 1,150 points, seven points shy of Lindsay Cale (2005-09) for 27th place.  Alazaus is currently 39th on the scoring list with 1,030 points and nine 3-pointers away from tying Kelsey Sleighter's (2011-15) Pitt-Johnstown career-record of 199.
 
Sixth-year Head Coach Callie Wheeler and the Edinboro Fighting Scots are 12-9 overall and 10-6 in the PSAC following Wednesday's, 57-54, loss at #2/3 Gannon.  Hayley Sims scored 15 points and Gillian Fisher added 14 points and nine rebounds.  Last Saturday, the Fighting Scots earned a 63-57 victory at Clarion behind Morgan Gentile's 19 points and seven rebounds.
 
The Mountain Cats have won the last two meetings between the teams, including an 80-65 win in Edinboro on Jan. 13.  Crawford's game-high of 22 points and eight rebounds and Fasick's 21 points led Pitt-Johnstown, while Gentile scored 17 points and Ashten Boggs collected 14 points and six boards to pace the Fighting Scots.
 
The Mountain Cat men come into the game at 5-17 overall and 3-13 in the PSAC following a 94-70 setback at Clarion on Wednesday. Zuchelli connected on six 3-pointers and had a game-high 27 points and eight rebounds, while Vinnie Cugini scored 15 points, and Gavin Headings tallied 10 points and six rebounds to lead the Mountain Cats.  Nick Watts chipped-in nine points off the bench.
 
First-year Head Coach Justin Jennings' Edinboro Fighting Scots are coming off of a 124-82 loss at #4/8 Gannon on Wednesday and are now 6-16 overall and 5-11 in conference-play.  Bernie Blunt scored 20 points, Will Taylor had 17 points and nine rebounds, and Ryan Ladjevich had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead the Fighting Scots on Wednesday.  Last Saturday, Blunt scored a game-high 25 points in an 82-63 win against Clarion.
 
The Mountain Cats had won seven of the last eight meetings and six straight between the teams, before the Fighting Scot were able to hold off Pitt-Johnstown, 100-95, on Jan. 13 in Edinboro to break the streak.  Headings had 23 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and Zuchelli added 17 points to pace five Mountain Cats who scored in double figures.  Blunt's game-high 26 points and Jack Gallagher's 16 points and seven boards led the way for Edinboro.
 
Pitt-Johnstown travels to PSAC West games at Indiana (PA) on Wednesday and Slippery Rock next Saturday, before hosting a conference doubleheader against California (PA) on Feb. 21 in the Sports Center.
