Six Mountain Cat Wrestlers Set For National Tournament in Wichita, Kansas

JOHNSTOWN, PA –2023-24 Super Region I Coach of the Year Pat Pecora and a group six of Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat wrestlers will travel to Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan., just outside of Wichita, to compete in Friday and Saturday's NCAA Division II National Wrestling Championships.   The top eight place winners in each of the 10 weight classes will earn NCAA Division II All-America honors.
 
The Mountain Cats came us just short of winning their 26th NCAA Regional Championship at Kutztown University on March 2.  Pitt-Johnstown placed second, just a half point behind Gannon in the Super Region I Championships team scores.  Six Mountain Cats earned spots in the national tournament, including five individual regional champions and one runner-up.  The top three place-winners in each of the 10 weight classes earned spots at the national tournament.
 
Trevon Gray (125 lbs.), Jacob Ealy (149 lbs.), Cooper Warshel (157 lbs.), and Dakoda Rodgers (197 lbs.), and Isaiah Vance (285 lbs.) all won individual titles, while Mason Myers was the runner-up at 141 lbs.

125 lbs. – Trevon Gray  (R-SO)  (Chesapeake, VA / Oscar F. Smith High School)

--Ranks fourth in NCAA Division II in Most Dominant Category (4.73 points), fifth in Technical Falls (10 in 38:23), and seventh in Falls (10, 26:44)
--Four-time NCAA Super Region I Champion – 2020 (141 lbs.), 2022, 2023, 2024 (149 lbs.)
--Five-time NCAA National Qualifier
--2022 Midwest Classic Champion and 2023 Midwest Classic Runner-up

Friday's First Session will begin at 11 a.m. EDT with the Preliminary matches and the First Round. (120 matches), (approx. 3 ½ hours)
 
Friday's Session II is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will feature Championship Second Round matches and the 1st & 2nd Round of the Consolation, 6 mats (120 matches), (approx. 3 ½ hours)
 
On Saturday, Session III will start at 11 a.m. EDT and consist of the Championship Semifinals, 3rd Round of Consolations, Consolation Semifinals, and 3rd, 5th, 7th Place Matches, (90 matches), (approx. 5 hours)
 
The Parade of All-Americans will take place on Saturday at 7:40 p.m., followed the Championship Finals scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT (10 matches).
