Women’s Soccer to Host PSAC Match Against California (PA) on Wednesday

Head Coach Aideen O'Donoghue and the Pitt-Johnstown women's soccer team returns home to host  PSAC West match against California (PA), Wednesday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
 
The Mountain Cats come in at 1-4-3 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play.  Last Wednesday, Maddie Barrick scored both goals in a 2-1 Pitt-Johnstown home win over Seton Hill, before the Mountain Cats suffered a 2-0 setback at Slippery Rock on Saturday.  Emma Morin made four saves in goal for Pitt-Johnstown against the Rock.
 
California (PA), under eighth-year Head Coach Pete Curtis is 0-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the PSAC West.  Autumn Bishop made six saves in a 4-0 loss to Indiana (PA) last Wednesday, then added four saves Saturday's 1-0 loss to Clarion.
 
Since first meeting in 2008, Pitt-Johnstown holds a slim 8-7-2 edge over the Vulcans.  Last seasons the teams split a pair of conference games.  On Sept. 25 in Johnstown, Rylee Fry finished an assist from Sophia Lamesta to lift the Mountain Cats to a 1-0 win.  Cal U answered with a 3-1 win in California on Nov. 6
 
The Mountain Cats will host a PSAC West match against Edinboro next Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field, before traveling to Clarion on Oct. 18 and nationally-ranked Gannon on Oct. 22 for conference matches.
