
Tamara Humphries (117 lbs.) and
Makayla Paclib (131 lbs.) each reached the finals to highlight a strong showing for the Pitt-Johnstown women's wrestling team in its NCAA debut at Sunday's 2025 Eat Stroudsburg University Open.
Humphries, who posted a 4-1 record at the tournament, earned a victory over third-seeded Samantha Yap (Sacred Heart) in the semifinals, before falling to Lehigh's fifth-seeded Abbi Cooper in the championship bout at 117 lbs.
At 131 lbs., Paclib, who also went 4-1 at the tournament, upset sixth-seeded Jaylene Martinez (Gannon) in the semifinals and second-seeded Gianna Amendola (East Stroudsburg) in the semifinals, then fell to King's top-seeded Virginia Foard in the finals.
Also at 131 lbs.,
Isabel Alvarez advanced to the quarterfinals, before finishing with a 2-2 overall record, while
Emma Hoppe went 4-2 at 145 lbs. Hoppe won three consecutive matches in the consolation bracket and came up just one win shy of wrestling for fifth-place.
Emma Cunningham went 3-2 at 124 lbs., and
Leah Shoemaker (124 lbs.) and
Isabella Taranto (131 lbs.) were both 0-2 for the Mountain Cats.
Pitt-Johnstown will host Waynesburg for the program's first ever dual meet on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to the Wilkes University Open on Nov. 16.
