The Pitt-Johnstown women's wrestling team will host its 2025-26 home finale Thursday evening at 6:30 when Penn State Altoona visits the Sports Center.
Head Coach Shane Valko and the Pitt-Johnstown women's wrestling team come in at 1-2 on the season. The Mountain Cats haven't wrestled a dual meet since suffering a narrow, 20-19, loss at Penn State Altoona on Jan. 7. On Jan. 24, four Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers placed at the Pennsylvania State Collegiate championships.
Makayla Paclib (131 lbs.) and No. 20
Emma Hoppe (145 lbs.) both won individual titles, while
Rome Alvarez was the runner-up at 124 lbs., and No. 19
Tamara Humphries finished fourth at 117 lbs.
Penn State-Altoona, in its second season as a varsity program under
Head Coach Brinton Simington, in 3-10 on the year. The Lions fell 19-16 at Alvernia on Jan. 12. Penn State Altoona also competed in the PA State Collegiate Championships on Jan. 24 and got a fourth-place finish from
Naomi Nachmias at 103 lbs., and sixth-place finishes from
Richele Reyes (124 lbs.) and
Gianna Slusser (131 lbs.).
The Mountain Cats will conclude the 2025-25 regular season at the Frostburg State (MD) Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, before beginning the postseason at the NCAA Regional Championships in West Liberty, W.Va. on Feb. 20-21.
