Women's Soccer Dominates Gallaudet, 9-0

09/16/2006

Head Coach Crystal Dye's women's soccer team improved to 3-1-0 on the season with a dominating, 9-0, shutout at Gallaudet (D.C.) University, Saturday morning. Pitt Johnstown freshmen forwards Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) and Chrissy Burnsworth (McKeesport, Pa.) each had hat tricks to lead the Pitt Johnstown attack.
It didn't take long for Pitt Johnstown to take control of the match. Three minutes in, freshman midfielder Lindsay Plowman (Apollo, Pa.) found the back of the net off of a corner kick to give Pitt Johnstown a 1-0. Four minutes later, sophomore midfielder Alyssa McKinney (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made it 2-0. Pitt Johnstown then added four more goals to take a 6-0 halftime lead.
Pitt Johnstown, which outshot the Bisons 28-2 for the match, continued its dominance with three more goals in the second half, including on by senior forward Kellie Stevens (Davidsville, Pa.).
Junior goalkeeper Anna Yarnall (Allentown, Pa.) faced just two shots the entire match and didn't have to make a save to improve to 3-1-0 on the year.
Pitt Johnstown travels to Columbia Union (MD) College on Sunday, before returning home to host Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
