Jared Jakubick and
Caiden Landis each scored 18 points off the bench to lead a group of seven Mountain Cats who scored in double figures in a lopsided 115-83 victory over Penn State-Fayette in Saturday's 2018-19 home-opener in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown, which saw all 11 of its dressed players in the scoring column, improved to 2-1.
It was all Mountain Cats from the start. After Marvin Sidon's 3-pointer gave Penn State-Fayette a 3-0 lead,
Josh Wise answered with a 3-pointer of his own on Pitt-Johnstown's next possession that sparked a 24-5 run.
John Paul Kromka's lay-up at 14:54 got the lead into double figures, and a bucket from Landis three minutes later capped the run and made it 24-8.
Penn State-Fayette got it as close as 13 at 27-14 with 11:07 left in the opening half on baskets by London Hoxie and Salim Wyche.

However, Mountain Cats used a 16-0 run over the next four minutes to extend the lead to 43-14 on a Landis jumper.
Pitt-Johnstown maintained at least a 19-point advantage the remainder of the half and got a late layup and a free-throw from Wise to take a 64-36 lead into the break.
It was more of the same in the second half. Jakubick's 3-pointer midway through the second half pushed it out to 87-49, before Pitt-Johnstown took its largest lead of the afternoon at 115-75 with 2:14 to play on a pair of free-throws from Jakubick.
Landis had 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and Jakubick finished with 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists to lead the Mountain Cats. Kromka had 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Wise had 14 points, and
Romano Sebastiani had 12 points. The Mountain Cats also got 11

points from
Joe Batt, 10 points and four rebounds from
Marcin Wiszomirski, and seven points, five rebounds and a game-high 11 assists from
Fred Mulbah.
Pitt-Johnstown, which dominated the glass 51-28, ended the day shooting 58.9% (43-73) from the field, 4-18 from behind the 3-point line, and 25-30 from the free-throw line. Penn State-Fayette shot 40.8% (29-71) from the floor, and connected on 19-of-49 3-pointers. The Lions were just 6-15 from the charity stripe.
Sidon had 18 points, including five 3-pointers, and Tavian Mozie scored 18 points, pulled down five rebounds, and dished out six assists to lead Penn State-Fayette. Treyvon Clayton chipped-in 15 points, and Hoxie scored 14 points for the Lions, who fell to 0-1.
Pitt-Johnstown to the IUP Classic to take on LeMoyne (NY) and the University of the Sciences on Friday and Saturday, before returning home to host a non-conference game against Carlow on November 28 at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
