
Six Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball players scored in double figures and saw 11 players score at least six points Wednesday night, when they defeated Carlow University, 129-69, at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center.
The Mountain Cats improved to 4-2 on the season and Carlow fell to 1-12.
The Mountain Cats were led by
Jared Jakubick, this week's PSAC West Freshman of the Week, who went 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-5 from behind the arc, for 21 points.
Josh Wise finished the game 8-for-10 from the field, scoring 17 points and dished out five assists.
Carlow took the early lead with 14:45 remaining in the first half when Ryan Jackson knocked down a 3-pointer to make it, 10-8. On the ensuing possession,
Fred Mulbah answered to give the Mountain Cats the 11-10 lead.
The Mountain Cats went on a 33-2 run mid-way through the first half that held Carlow scoreless for over six minutes of action.
Pitt-Johnstown s continued their hot shooting in the second half, opening the half with another Kromka dunk and
Joe Batt 3-pointer, to make it 67-36 with 18:13 remaining.
The Mountain Cats went on a 19-0 run highlighted by eight-straight points from Wise to make it, 82-39 with 14:09 remaining.
The Mountain Cats opened up their biggest lead of the game when
Noah Yartin hit a 3-pointer as time expired.
Pitt-Johnstown finished the game going 55-for-74 (74.3 percent) and 10-20 from behind the arc (50.0 percent.)
The 129 points scored by the Mountain Cats was three points shy of the school record set in the mid-1990s and the team's 41 assists broke the previous school record of 36 set on February 4, 2017 in a 100-85 victory over Edinboro in the Sports Center..
The Mountain Cats return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. when they open conference play at Mansfield University.
