The Youngstown State University National Mid-Major Invitational was the host of another successful, well-rounded team outing for the Mountain Cats. For Pitt-Johnstown, this meet was headlined by
Brooke Leithner's 12
th place finish in the pentathlon. She scored 2437 points which also awards her the 18
th best performance across Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference athletes on the season.
Leithner also competed in the triple jump where she placed 12
th with a mark of 10.01 meters.
Kate Yahner competed in the unseeded division of the pole vault where she finished 3
rd. Yahner's top height on the day was 3.15 meters. The Mountain Cats also got impressive races out of
Mayah Charity and
Kara McKenzie, who placed 21
st and 24
th respectively in the 60-meter dash. Charity's time was 8.12 seconds and McKenzie's time was 8.17 seconds. Both women remain in the top 20 of PSAC performers in 2021-2022 in their event.
Mountain Cats also raced well in the 200-meter dash where Charity placed 20
th with a time of 26.94 seconds,
Trista Miller finished 28
th with a time of 27.18 seconds, and
Abbey-Gale Brooks took 33
rd with a time of 27.43 seconds.
Pitt-Johnstown travels to Alliance, Ohio to take part in the University of Mount Union (OH): Jim Wuske Invitational on February 5th before heading back to Ohio on February 19th to partake in the Kent State University Tune-Up Meet. That will be their last meet of the regular season before the 2022 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on the weekend of February 26th.
